The ideal room temperature around you home will differ between rooms. When it comes to creating a comfortable, inviting, and functional home, it’s not just about décor and interiors. Room temperature is important too! After all, whether you’re eating, sleeping, socialising, or relaxing, the last thing you want is to be too hot, cold or uncomfortable.
But, when it comes to heating and cooling the different rooms in your home, what is the optimum temperature? And how can you achieve it?
So, what is the ideal room temperature?
Living Room
The living room is the social hub in many homes. It’s a place where we tend to relax, unwind, and catch up with our families. Especially at the end of a long day in the office or at school.
With this in mind, it’s important that your lounge is always cool and comfortable. Of course, the definition of a comfortable temperature is purely subjective, and different households prefer different climates in their home.
As a general rule though, the ideal temperature in the living room is between 19 and 22 degrees. During the warmer months of the year, or if your house is naturally well-heated, an air conditioning system can be a great way to maintain this optimum temperature and prevent your lounge from getting too hot.
Bathroom
When you step out of a nice hot shower, the last thing you want is to be greeted by a freezing cold room, right? With this in mind, the ideal temperature for a bathroom is slightly higher than the living room – you should aim for around 23 degrees.
A high performance air conditioning unit can prevent your bathroom from overheating in the warmer months. In addition, under-floor heating can prevent a tiled floor getting too chilly.
Bedroom
If you want to enjoy a great night’s sleep, the bedroom should be one of the coolest rooms in the house. Keep your sleeping space below 20 degrees, even as low as 15 or 16 degrees. An air conditioning system will help you to maintain this temperature and create the perfect environment to sleep and refresh.
